This weekend saw a piece of boxing history as Mancunian Tyson Fury ended the 11 year heavyweight world championship reign of Wladimir Klitschko in a shock win in Dusseldorf in Klitschko’s adopted home country of Germany.

Undoubtedly one of the biggest achievements of a British boxer – and indeed any boxer – in recent years, Fury’s astonishing win got us to thinking about other great fighters from Great Britain. In honour of the new British world heavyweight champ therefore, here is our rundown of six of the greatest British boxers of the post-war era.
