Formula one has often been a sport where one particular constructor has enjoyed a spell of dominance over their competitors due to technological advantages or innovations that they alone have managed to develop. The early 2000s for example largely belonged to Ferrari, the later 2000s to Red Bull and the most recent seasons to the Mercedes team.

That begs the question therefore, of just which team has enjoyed the most dominance in any given F1 season in the history of the sport. The best way to ascertain that is by looking at the number of 1-2 finishes that a team has achieved in a single season, and that is exactly what we’re going to do.
